I'm back! It's been a crazy few months of non-stop wedding planning, but I feel like I'm ahead of the game, so back to scrapping! I've been asked to be apart of the team at LCOM to work with their awesome sketches. Seriously, if you're ever in a rut, you need to check out this blog!

Here's my final layout using the Nantucket collection from Pink Paislee. I had such a great time with this collection and I will definitely be stocking up on some more because I'm just so in love with this line! The soft colors stole my heart along with the fabulous hexagon chipboard pieces - they were just so much fun! And with paper names like "Crab Cakes" and "Lobster Bisque" you really cannot go wrong =P

Whew, I've been busy! Between a crazy work schedule and preparing for Josh's sister's wedding, I haven't had a lot of time to do anything else. But, I did manage to complete a few layouts throughout everything. And, by the way, their wedding was absolutely fabulous!

I love to scrap photos of my pup - I mean, what's cuter, right?! Bella Blvd's collection is perfect and was so much fun to play with. If you have a dog (or a cat), you need this collection. It's time for my last project using the Simple Stories "100 Days of Summer" collection. I had a blast with this line because there are so many journaling cards and their sticker sheet is awesome! So, for this layout I wanted to incorporate those two things, because they're so much fun!

The "summer" banner was cut out of one of adorable patterned papers, I then threaded twine through a hole I created on the top two corners and then I used brads to tie the twine on to so it looked a bit more like the banner was hanging.

An Address Book

I've been wanting to create an address book for quite some time, but I haven't found the right collection to play with. That all changed when I received the Simple Stories "100 Days of Summer" collection in the mail. The papers are gorgeous and there is a cute house that's perfect for the cover! I actually cut out one of the houses from a journaling card, framed it, and then added the house sticker from the sticker sheet on top for some dimension. It kind of looks like the trees are in the background!

I created the pages for the address book in MS Word - now I just need to start filling them out!

This chipboard mini album by Maya Road came with envelopes and I knew that one would be perfect for holding stamps. I may also put my return address labels in another one! If you're using an album that didn't come with envelopes, you can always adhere one to one of the inside covers.

I've worked with so many lovely manufacturers and I've even been able to play with some companies that are new to me, including this month's Simple Stories. If you like Echo Park, I guarantee you'll love Simple Stories - 100 Days of Summer. This collection has a bit of a distressed look (which I love) and tons of tags and journaling cards - perfect for someone who enjoys fussy cutting as much as I do!

Yup, you guessed it - I cut out the sun and bathing suits from a journaling tag. But, if fussy cutting makes you a little nervous, there are element stickers in this collection that have these, too!

I can't believe that the month is pretty much over, and that means this is my last layout using the 4 Heures 37 collection. One thing that totally won me over with this collection is that even though it is travel-themed, it's not over-the-top, and can be used for every day photos as well! For my last project though, I did go with a bit of a travel theme - just because they're our newest photos. But really, these photos could've been taken anywhere, even in our back yard, because these papers just work so well with everything!

I love to travel. I honestly try to head somewhere out of the country once a year. And because of that, I have a lot of vacation photos and I'm always looking for the next best travel line. Well, if you're like me, look no further -
4 Heures 37 has exactly what you're looking for!

On this page, I used more of the generic papers (there are some french-themed papers which I'm excited to use with my Paris photos!) because I thought they went well with these pictures from Italy. One of my absolute favorites that 4 Heures 37 has are these super cute little clouds. They're thicker than cardstock so they're not flimsy, but they're not ridiculously thick that your page will not fit in your page protector. Seriously, these clouds are the cutest things ever.

I did some hidden journaling, but I thought I'd pull it out a bit for the photos so you could see it!

Do you find that you're way busier during the summer and you find it almost impossible to get anything done? That's how I feel, so I completely forgot to share this layout when I finished it. Well, better late than never, right?!

For the title I cut out the letters from the patterned paper. I think it works well with this page, and even though I do love my Thickers, I need to try something different once in a while =P And I love the Sassafras calendar tags. They're so cute, and since I purchased 2 packages, I will be using the second to make some sort of mini album!

Hello, and happy Monday! This month for the LCOM store, I'm going to be showcasing Bella Blvd's Family Dynamix. It's such a bright and fun collection, and I know that you'll be loving it as much as I do!

Another product that I absolutely love right now is baker's twine, and due to this minor obsession, I have purchased a lot from many different manufactures. So when the LCOM store started carrying twine from the Twinery, I was thrilled - it's my absolute favorite. The colors are fabulous and it's more color than white (which I love). You can see a close-up of one of the colors the store carries. I just cannot get enough of this stuff!

Happy Wednesday, and it's time for another LCOM post! Crate Paper's Emma's Shoppe was my selection for May, and as I mentioned last week, this collection works for some many things, including scrapping photos of my cousin's gorgeous baby girl, Aaliyah. I mean, can the die-cuts be any more perfect? I think not! And since this is such a girly page, the Prima ribbon and maya road resin roses also fit so perfectly! If yo haven't had the chance to play with this collection, it's a definite must!!

And, as a little added bonus, here's one of the cards that I made for Mother's Day. Again, this collection worked so well, and the frame was just the perfect size for the card!

It's time for another layout using the uber fabulous UpCycle! Seriously, if you're looking for a collection that is bold, girly and a bit retro, you need to get your hands on this! One thing that I absolutely love about this collection are the matching embellishments. The butterflies & doilies, as well as the package of buttons make it super easy to add that little extra to your page - no need for digging through jars of buttons and getting those punches out! Everything just works so perfectly!

I did a bit of misting on this page, which warped my paper a bit, so don't mind the lumps and bumps (I'm still trying to flatten it out, LOL).

When I received this collection kit, I knew that it would be perfect for our recent trip to Universal Studios, Hollywood. I love the color combination that UpCycle has - it has to be one of my favorites! Absolutely perfect for all of the fun and colorful photos that we took!

I just love the look of baker's twine on my pages, but I wanted to try something different with it. I took the wood veneer hearts by Studio Calico, and wrapped the twine around the heart. I love how it turned out, and it'd work with any of the shapes that Studio Calico came out with!

I've been really busy lately, but I did manage to head to a weekend crop and was able to get a few things accomplished (yet not as much as I had hoped, but that's always the way it goes, right?!). Here's one of the pages that I made. I used the Hello Sunshine line by American Crafts. I pulled the purples and pinks from my dress (even though you can hardly see it!) and I love how bright and cheery the outcome is.

Hey everyone! It's my first post over at the LCOM blog, so be sure to check it out! I had such a blast playing with these goodies. They're so versatile and the colors are so rich! It's freezing here this long weekend, so I'm definitely planning to get some scrappy time in! I was looking at my stash the other day and I have 3 kits from SC that haven't been touched yet. Sad, I know! So, I did the unthinkable - I cancelled my sub. One day I might go back (because I do love their kits. Really, I do!), but for now I have opted to use what I have. I heard that Michael's was clearing out a select few of their Cricut carts, so I had to check it out. There wasn't much left at mine, but I was able to pick up "Birthday Cakes". This cart is meant for the Cricut Cake machine, but those carts work with any of the Cricuts (except the Imagine, I believe). And for $9.99, how could I not?

Is anyone doing Ali's OLW for 2011? I'm not sure if I'm going to, but I did decide on a word: Better. I want to become better at everything (or try to, at least). In scrapbooking, I want to become a better photographer (of my subjects and the actual layouts), become better when it comes to journaling, and be better at updating my blog! So, we'll see how this goes. What's your OLW?

So, I did it - I caved and bought a Cricut. I was never really sure about the machine. I knew a lot of scrappers love it and say that they cannot scrap without it, but I just didn't see it fitting my style. Well, M's had the Expression on MAJOR sale this weekend (and I couldn't get anything other than the best, right?!), so I bought it! And, this thing rocks! I made some quick cards with it just to play as soon as I got home, and here they are. I can't wait to play some more (and make some more detailed projects!).

I had a pretty laid back weekend of scrapping and cleaning - and I really only enjoyed one of the two (I'll give you a hint, it doesn't include dusting!). It's nice to have those chill weekends where you don't really accomplish everything you wanted to, but you feel relaxed and realize that figuring out your garage door opener or you winter car mats can probably wait a week (I hope longer - I'm really dreading the winter, and we've had amazing weather thus far!).

Technical difficulties..

As some of you may know, I've been having computer problems since July (yes, July). And since I was on a couple of design teams (up until Firday - so sad my terms are done), I wasn't able to part with my computer for an extended period of time, so I had it on safe mode for a LONG time (hence, the oddly shaped photos, LOL).

Anyways, I totally fixed it with the Prevx blackscreen fix - for a whole week, and then it died on me again. Now, it's kind of working, but I'm without a desktop again and unable to download/upload anything. Just wanted to let ya'll know that I haven't forgot about you!

Ticket to Ride

This was our year to go to the rodeo at the Calgary Stampede (Josh's parents have season tickets, but they're split between Josh and his sister). The seats are AMAZING (front row, right above the chutes!), so I was able to take some pretty great pictures. Here's one of the layouts that I've made, and I'm sure there will be plenty more to come!

This layout was created for the GDT challenge at Magistical Memories. Their challenge was to use their sketch and incorporate chipboard into the layout. For this layout, I used a chipboard ticket from Maya Road and covered it with patterened paper for part of the title. Also, the journaling is done on a Maya Road chipboard frame (also covered with patterened paper and misted).

So, tonight is one of the few nights that's absolutely gorgeous - and I'm spending it inside blogging. What gives? The weekend is calling for cool, rainy weather, so I really should be basking in the sun. Oh well, next summer.. right?! ;P So, while we're on the topic of weekends and Saturday nights, what do you have planned for this weekend?

SOS - August Challenge

This month's challenge over at Scrap Our Stash is to use flowers on your page. I love adding flowers on to my layouts, and lately I have been making a lot of them. They're definitely easy and cheaper than going out and purchasing some. Here's my layout and to make the flower I just used 2 circle punches (different sizes) and a brad (or in my case, an American Crafts button). For the base of the flower I used a 2.5" punch and for the petals I used a 2 1/8" punch.

I decided to stay home this weekend instead of going to the lake. The weather has been pretty crappy this summer, so I was hoping that I wouldn't be missing out on chilling in the boat and instead I'd be able to get things done around the house (which includes scrapping, of course!). Ever since I began working full time, I feel like I have zero time for myself. How you working mothers do it is beyond me!

First, I get news that I'm being published in the Decemeber issue of "Canadian Scrapbooker", and now I'm being featured on the Scrapbook & Cards Today blog. The layout they chose was this one of my little man, Brodie.

I definitely feel honored, and I cannot wait to see what comes next!

It's been super rainy and overcast here, so I haven't been able to get any photos of my layouts. It's a bit of a PITA (I wish I had a scanner I could figure out, LOL), but it'll do for now. One day I'll buy a good scanner (any recommendations?)!

For the July 1st long weekend, Josh, Brodie and I jumped in the car and drove 7 hours to a tiny town called Elbow (Saskatchewan). We went there for a family reunion and I had an absolute blast! Here's a photo of my dad (2nd from the left) and my aunts and uncle. They're standing in front of my grandfather's boat which was restored by my cousin's husband. He did such a great job - it looks almost brand new!

Volterra is famous for their alabaster - and it's absolutely gorgeous. We bought some alabaster eggs and their currently showcased on our bar. I have a picture of all of the eggs that I'll post later when my camera battery is charged.

Scrap Our Stash "Christmas in July" blog hop!

Welcome to the next stop in the Scrap Our Stash Christmas in July blog hop! If you've just happened to stumble across my blog, go back to the start so you can join in on all of the fun! Today I'm going to show a quick little tutorial on how to make a simple, but cute gift card holder.

First, you cut a piece of cardstock slightly larger than the gift card. I really don't like to measure, so I just eyed this. I used my Tonic Studios scoring tool to get perfect creases!

Second, you cut some patterend paper to add to the front of your piece of cardstock. Again, I don't like to measure, so I cut this out larger than I needed and then cut it down again. I also used a corner punch on both the cardstock and the patterend paper.

Here, I folded the creased cardstock and added another small strip of patterened paper to the bottom flap.

Now we need to make the paper "band" that goes around the gift card holder to keep it closed. I folder the holder and again roughly measured a strip of paper for the outside. I made it slightly larger than the folded holder.

I then wrapped the paper strip around the holder and then I folded the excess bit of paper over and glued it down.

Here I used my Martha Stewart border punch to make a scalloped edge for my paper band. Once I had the strip, I glued the outter edge of the scalloped pieces and inserted them into the inside of the band. Everything sticks so well with the ATG gun! I also added a gingerbread sticker to the front of the band.

On the inside I put a "Merry Christmas" sticker and a place to put the sender and receiver's names.

And here's the final outcome! It's so simple!
